RAID 5 stores your data on multiple drives, which gives you high data security. If a drive begins to fail, the data it holds will be recreated and distributed to the other drives allowing users to continue working uninterrupted. For larger NAS systems with more than three hard drives RAID 5 is the ideal choice to retain optimal data security and total drive storage capacity. When using RAID 6 you get higher data security, even if two hard drives fail, the system will still function.
