IT transformation – Konstantin Ebert’s vision

Change is constant—both in our personal and professional lives. This is no different for Konstantin Ebert, Executive Vice President at Bechtle AG, as his role is also evolving. From next year, he will take over from Jürgen Schäfer on the Bechtle Executive Board, who has served as COO of the IT E-commerce segment since 2009.

Recently, together with our sister organisation Bechtle, we hosted the event Bechtle NEXT – Transformation, during which, we asked Konstantin a few questions. What is his vision for transformation? Is there such a thing as a bad transformation? And how do you facilitate it effectively—especially given the frequent shortage of (IT) personnel? You’ll find all the answers in this blog.

Transformation is an ongoing process

We’re reachable everywhere—and that’s a big change from the past. Do you remember the days when it took ages to open an email? That’s hard to imagine now. These days, emails, Teams messages and phone calls come in constantly. The way we communicate has undergone a major transformation.

Within organisations, transformation is ongoing. We’re always looking for smarter, more efficient or easier ways to do things. Technology often plays a key role in helping us optimise our processes. With all the technological advancements, it’s becoming increasingly easy to work more efficiently.

“Transformation is an ongoing process. It never stops. Sometimes we can influence it, sometimes we can’t. It’s an important part of our lives. It’s everywhere. Sometimes it’s a challenge, but I see it as an opportunity. – Konstantin Ebert

When does transformation become a risk?

The biggest risk in transformation? According to Konstantin, it’s failing to keep up with developments. Not recognising problems early enough and failing to respond. It’s important to look ahead—but don’t lose sight of the present. Stay focused on today and keep exploring smarter ways to do things now.

Supporting the organisation through transformation

In another Bechtle NEXT session, the core message was: involve your employees in decision-making. Ensure sufficient inclusion. Problems are only solved when there’s a smart approach that people will actually use.

An organisation consists of many layers—with varying levels of seniority, generations and job profiles. It’s important to understand who is experiencing the problem and what a suitable solution looks like for them.  It’s also essential that every employee has the space to grow and the right tools to drive transformation. The right education makes all the difference.

Pursuing transformation in a challenging world

There’s a lot of pressure on IT departments. They’re not only dealing with cybersecurity and enabling digital workplaces, but also with strategy. So how do you make room for something as vital as transformation?

Within an organisation, you should focus on what you do best. Technological developments are moving at lightning speed and it takes a huge amount of time for IT departments to keep up. Make use of (IT) partners in areas where your own expertise is limited. That way, you empower your IT department.

Seek support for areas you can’t—or don’t want to—focus on

Konstantin’s message during the Bechtle NEXT talk show was clear: change is good and full of potential. But if you don’t keep up with technological developments, it could pose a risk to your organisation.

At Bechtle and ARP, we support organisations with IT transformation challenges. Together with our partners, we ensure a strong flow of information so we can better assist our customers. This keeps us up to date with the latest and most important developments in the IT landscape. We use this knowledge and expertise to help our customers move to the next level. Sometimes you need to optimise your processes to stay future-proof—and sometimes you need to address the surrounding factors too. Whatever challenges our customers face, we’re here to help.
