About Zuyderland.
Zuyderland Medical Centre is a comprehensive healthcare organisation with hospital locations in Sittard‑Geleen and Heerlen, supported by care centres, hospices, mental‑health services, home care and domestic support. It is also Limburg’s largest employer.
The challenge.
The old iPads were so outdated that they no longer received updates. This posed risks in terms of security, stability and software support. Replacement was therefore necessary.
The BeagleBoxx software running on the iPads is provided by Logex. As the preferred partner for both Logex and Zuyderland, ARP was asked to recommend the right devices and take care of the full hardware preparation. Logex focuses deliberately on software deployment and management, while ARP’s expertise lies in preparing, configuring and delivering devices at scale—a combination that fits together effortlessly.
A further challenge was the larger form factor of the new iPads, which meant all wall mounts also needed to be replaced by Villa ProCtrl. This required close coordination between Zuyderland, Logex, Villa ProCtrl and ARP, with a shared focus on keeping downtime per patient room to an absolute minimum while care continued uninterrupted.
Richard explains that this collaboration was the key to success: “No extras, just a joint focus on the end result.”
Approach.
Together, the teams developed a clear plan. In the ARP Services Hub, all iPads were fully prepared so that the on‑site rollout could be completed as quickly and smoothly as possible. ARP handled every stage of hardware preparation with care, ensuring each device was:
- carefully unpacked, with packaging removed and recycled responsibly
- fitted with a screen protector and a durable case
- labelled and registered in the asset management system
- pre‑enrolled in MDM
- linked to specific rooms using hardware IDs
- fully charged for immediate use.
The logistics were arranged just as efficiently. With compact boxes containing twenty iPads each, Zuyderland received all devices in a single pallet delivery, with minimal packaging and no additional waste streams on site.
Zuyderland carried out the room‑by‑room replacement themselves. Thanks to the thorough preparation, swapping an iPad took just five to ten minutes per room. While the old mount was removed and the new one installed, the replacement iPad was already being linked to the room’s domotics in the background. As soon as the new device was placed in its holder, it became instantly operational and ready for the patient to use.
“That speed is entirely down to ARP’s preparation services,” Richard emphasises. “Unpacking, labelling, registering, linking and disposing of the waste alone would have cost us around fifteen minutes per iPad. And because ARP also pre‑installed the screen protectors and cases, the time saved increased to roughly twenty minutes per device.”
Collaboration and results.
ARP not only supplied the devices but also supported Zuyderland with practical packaging solutions, waste handling and labelling. According to Zuyderland, ARP’s greatest added value lies in this combination of forward‑thinking, expertise and complete peace of mind. Richard notes that ARP adapted flexibly to the schedule and always worked with a solution‑driven mindset.
“Everything went flawlessly—exactly as we had hoped,” says Richard. “Thanks to the thorough preparation behind the scenes, patients never noticed a thing, and that is ultimately what it’s all about.”
The impact:
- Care continued without interruption
- Patients were unaffected by the replacements
- Processing time was cut by more than half
- Device management is once again secure and up-to-date
Richard sums up the project in three words—modernisation, ingenuity and action. It was a project involving many physical steps, plenty of coordination and close collaboration, but with one clear outcome—time savings, a smoother workflow and a modern, seamless bedside experience. “Because of the time saved, we can move on to the next project more quickly, allowing us to support the care process even more efficiently.”
