Product details for WD My Cloud Pro PR2100 20TB 2-bay NAS
With the WDBBCL0200JBK-EESN desktop NAS from Western Digital you can efficiently store your files and data. It comes with a considerable 20 TB storage capacity. Different from traditional external hard drives, the NAS (network-attached storage) device can be integrated directly into your network. This gives all computers connected to your network access to the device and data. It offers you over enough storage space and requires much less power than regular PCs. The desktop NAS device has two Gigabit Ethernet ports and is equipped with an Intel Pentium N3710 1.6 GHz processor. The 4 GB RAM allows several users to access data at the same time. This desktop NAS system has the following data storage forms available: 0, JBOD and 1. When using JBOD (or "just a bunch of disks") you can combine several hard drives, regardless of their storage capacity, and retain all of the storage space. This is not the case with RAID levels.
RAID 0 stores your data on multiple drives, which increases performance and speed as all work is split among the various drives rather than handled by just one. The drives should ideally have equal storage capacities and a minimum of two drives are required. This RAID level offers no fault tolerance and is therefore best suited for large volumes of high speed storage. When using RAID 1 your data will be mirrored from one drive to another so that if one fails you will not lose any information. This fault tolerance also means that your total drive storage capacity is halved due to duplicated content. For smaller NAS systems RAID 1 is an ideal option.
