Product details for QNAP TS-431XeU 8GB 4-bay NAS
The TS-431XEU-8G rackmount NAS from QNAP safely stores your data and files. Different from traditional external hard drives, the NAS (network-attached storage) device can be directly integrated into your network. This gives all computers connected to your network access to the device and data. It offers you over enough storage space and requires significantly less electricity than regular PCs. It has a Quad core 1.7 GHz processor. It has Several users can access data at the same time thanks to the 8 GB of RAM. This rackmount NAS system has the following data storage forms available: 0, JBOD, 10, 6, 5 and 1. Using a JBOD architecture to create a multi-disk storage space means you can combine hard drives of random sizes and will not lose the storage capacity of any of them. This is not the case with RAID levels.
Using RAID 0 means your hard drives (ideally of equal storage capacities) are interconnected and work parallely. This increases performance and speed as the work is split bewteen multiple drives, but there is no fault tolerance. RAID 1 offers you high data security through data mirroring. A replica is created of all your data from one drive to another, meaning if one crashes you will still retain all of your information. This also means that the capacity of all your drives is halved because of duplicated content. For smaller NAS systems RAID 1 is an ideal option. Using RAID 5 means your data is split among multiple hard drives — when one drive has an error the data is copied and distributed to the other drives. With this method you can retain the storage capacity of all your drives. It's the ideal choice for larger NAS systems with more than three drives. You get a higher level of data security when implementing RAID 6, even if two hard drives fail, the system will still be operational.
Benefit from exceptional quality and all-round excellent service — from order to delivery. Order now!
Designed for 4 x 8.9 cm (3.5") or 6.4 cm (2.5") SATA HDDs/SSDs
Compared to a traditional 4-bay rack-mount NAS, the TS-431XeU has a depth of only 291 mm. This makes the TS-431XeU an excellent choice for smaller racks, and the unused space can be reserved for cabling or ventilation.
Please note: Must be purchased together with a NAS appliance.
